HENERAL LUNA directed by JERROLD TAROG starring JOHN ARCILLA opens on Sept. 9 in theaters nationwide!

LOGLINE: Set during the Philippine-American war of 1899, a brilliant and fiery Filipino general faces an enemy more treacherous than the American army: his own countrymen.

General Antonio Luna (John Arcilla), commander of the revoluitonary army, is spoiling for a fight. After three hundred years as a Spanish colony, the Philippines must endure a new foreign power: the United States of America. General Luna wants to fight for freedom but members of the elite wants to strike a deal with the Americans. The infighting is fierce in the new cabinet but General Luna and his loyal men forge ahead even as his military decisions are met with resistance from soldiers who are loyal only to President Aguinaldo (Mon Confiado).  Ultimately, it is the general's legendary temper and pride that bring him to his death when a pack of presidential bodyguards assassinate him in broad daylight. While American newspapers blame Aguinaldo, the mystery of General Luna's death was never completely solved and his killers never put to justice.

Alongside Arcilla are talented thespians playing key roles in the film namely: Arron Villaflor (Joven Fernando), Mon Confiado (Emilio Aguinaldo), Bing Pimentel (Doña Laurana Luna), Mylene Dizon (Isabel), Perla Bautista (Doña Trinidad Aguinaldo), Lorenz Mascardo (Gen/ Lorenz Martinez), and Joem Bascon (Col. Paco Roman).

Other members of the supporting cast include Alvin Anson, Alex Medina, Art Acuña, Archie Alemania, Epy Quizon, Leo Martinez, Nonie Buencamino, Ketchup Eusebio, and Ronnie Lazaro

Arcilla was last seen playing the titular antihero in Kabesang Tales: Isang Rap en Rol Musical presented by Red Lantern Production (picture above).

This film was produced by Arikulo Uno productions.
