Judy Ann starrer "Mindanao" Takes Home 10 Awards from MMFF 2019 Gabi ng Parangal



A story of a family divided by war and sickness told in 3 different perspectives, this Brillante Mendoza film fresh from Cairo Film Festival took home the following awards: Best Float, Gender Sensitivity Award, Best Child Performer (Yuna Tangog), Best Sound (Hiroyuki Ishizaka), Best Visual Effects (Team Apps), Gatpuno Antonio J.Villegas Cultural Award Fernando Poe Jr. Award, Best Director (Brillante Mendoza), Best Actor (Allen Dizon), Best Actress (Judy Ann Santos), and Best Picture.


Write About Love closely followed with 7 awards: Best Musical Score (Jerrold Tarrog), Best Song (Ikaw Ang Akin), Best Supporting Actor (Joem Bascon), Best Supporting Actress (Yeng Constantino), Best Screenplay, Special Jury Prize, and 2nd Best Picture.

Sunod - Best Production Design (Ericson Navarro) and Best Cinematography (Mycko David)

Culion - Best in Ensemble Acting

Even though they are in their forties, Aga Muhlach and Carmina Villaroel still shone as Scratch It Stars of the Night and receibed 20,000 pesos each.

The Hall of Fame Best Director Awardees are Joel Lamangan, Marilou Diaz-Abaya (posthumous), and Jose Javier Reyes. Ditoy Aguila, Michael Albert Idioma, and Rolly Ruta got recognized as The Hall of Fame Best Sound Engineer Awardees.

Nora Aunor, Vilma Santos, Amy Austria, and Maricel Soriano got inducted as The Hall of Fame Best Actress Awardees. However, only Amy was present and Meryl received the award for her aunt.

It was also made official during the MMFF Gabi ng Parangal 2019 that there will be an MMFF Summer Festival. The awarding ceremony earlier was held at the New Frontier Theater.
