Clique 5 and Belladonnas Brought Down the Dome with This is Me

Sure, more familiar names in showbiz like Anna Ramsey (who brought the house down with her torch rendition of And I Am Telling You), Arron Villaflor, Hashtag CK, and Jak Roberto  did good in their special numbers, But, those who truly shined and were spectacular are the concert headliners themselves: Clique 5 and Belladonnas.

Title This is Me which is not to be confused with the Sarah Geronimo concert, the show which was held at the SM North EDSA Skydome last Feb. 24 is half-burlesque and half-avant garde. Sure, the costumes and the LED panels were bright and colorful but the powerful performances were augmented instead of being upstaged by this.

I think the group should focus more on their showmanship and dance numbers rather than the song numbers since the first two are clearly their strengths. Even though some members are just new, their flair for drama was evident in numbers like the Buwan dance interpretation (Rie and Gab), Cell Block Tango (Belladonnas), and Marco's Magic Mike number. Yes, his sexy derriere was dramatic.

If Marco is the clear leader of Clique 5, Quinn is the queen of the Belladonnas. She got thrown into the air, had to be suspended in the air with aerial silk and bamboo, and bedazzled everyone in her black and gold ensemble singing Queen of the Night.

Sure, some say sexy themed performances or burlesque to be precise, were popular two decades or so ago. But, with talent and stage presence like they have, they will be timeless and this is true. They might be underdogs right now but time will surely be kind to those like them with so much passion and potential.

The two groups were formed and are managed by the 3:16 Events and Talent Management Company owned by Len Carrillo.
