Viva’s latest offering for Pinoy movie goers certainly is timely and relevant. As Maria Isabel Lopez(one of the cast members ) put it, it is one of the significant changes in the world today. In a compound of Sunrise Apartments, the story revolves around the different tenants of the said vicinity. Meg Imperial is a drug addict who was put into rehab and moved into the compound with her boyfriend, Alex Medina. Luis Alandy manages Sunrise Apartments while having an affair with Mercedes Cabral (lady guard) who happens to be a married woman. Gabby Eigenmann is a closeted dad who has foot fetish and a liking for younger men. Maria Isabel Lopez is a divorced mom of Neil Coleta. She happened to be swayed by Alvin Anson, a swindler who puts up investment banking as a front to lure his victims. Rob Moya plays Josh , who happens to be the love interest of Gabby Eigenmann in this film.
I loved the fact that this movie tackles a lot of topics about safe sex, effect of infidelity and a play of twist when it comes to trust issues. The plot is very much relatable because for the most part people can basically relate to the roles being portrayed by the actors in the film. Some plots were clear but some seem to be vague but I think it was a tactic to make people think about what the outcome of the rest of the roles being portrayed in the film. How will their lives entangle with each other? Who ends up with who? Will the main character Meg Imperial get what she wants in the end? Will they find love using SWIPE? You’d have to watch the movie to find that out.
Directed by Ed Lejano and produced by Viva Films in cooperation with Ledge Films, Swipe opens February 1 onwards on your local cinemas. Please come out and support our Pinoy Films.
