Catastrophe Cuts Deep with Ateneo Blue Repertory’s CARRIE
For its 27th Season, Ateneo Blue Repertory will be adapting the harrowing narrative of
Stephen King’s Carrie onto the stage.
In this version of the haunting tale, the outcast Carrie discovers she has telekinetic
powers upon getting her first menstrual period. Filled with the sense of new confidence, it seems that for once, Carrie might have a shot at being accepted by her classmates despite her unpopularity at school and the restrictions that her overbearing, religious mother has held her
back from. However, the class’s most vicious bully has other ideas, and when Carrie is pushed to the brink, her powers threaten to overwhelm her and devour everyone around her in flames.
This cautionary tale of bullying and abuse features music Michael Gore, lyrics by Dean
Pitchford, and a book by Lawrence D. Cohen. This adaptation of CARRIE: The Musical will be directed by Jill Peña, a professional actress and owner of Clowning Around MNL. Peña has also starred in Atlantis Productions’ Carrie and Sideshow.
Immerse yourselves in a gruesome experience that presents the reality of abuse and repression, brought to life by blueREP’s team of students and professionals alike.
CARRIE: The Musical will run from November 7 to November 25, 2018 at the Rizal Mini Theater, Faber Hall, Ateneo de Manila University.
Ticket reservations are now available at: bit.ly/CARRIE-Reservations. For more
